Rent Party — The party starts now!

Parents, friends, and students! 

We will host our first annual Rent Party Fundraiser on May 17, 2026, 5-8pm at Kenyon Hall. This event will be a jazz-fueled fundraiser to support our growing programs, with a particular emphasis on funding the expansion of the jazz program to include two jazz bands.

Rent Parties were parties where neighbors came together to raise money for rent by throwing a big party, and they played a part in the growth of jazz culture in the early 20th-century. Learn more by watching Viola Davis read this lovely children’s book called “Rent Party Jazz.”

Our party may not technically be raising rent-money, but we’re asking the community to come together to helps us make a thriving home for our music programs, and that takes money: for assistant-teaching, coaching, instruments, music to play, performance uniforms, stage lights, you name it.
